Last year, the first Baltic Capital Markets Conference took place in Riga, Latvia, bringing together more than 300 representatives of local companies and investment professionals from the Baltic States. This year, on the 12th of October, everyone is welcome to participate in the Baltic Capital Markets Conference, which for the second year will take place at the ATTA Centre.
The long-term goal of the conference is to attract more attention on the development of the Baltic capital market, highlighting financing solutions available to entrepreneurs, as well as to facilitate discussions both on an individual level - between entrepreneurs and investment experts - and on a national level, in order to jointly outline development plans of the capital market, taking into account the business environment and economic situation in the Baltic States.
This year's conference will bring together experts from local and international investment banks, consultants, regulators, emission issuers, institutional investors, law firms, and audit firms to share their professional experience and knowledge. Panel discussions will cover a wide range of industry topics - from trends and developments in the stock and bond markets, to the listing of public companies on the stock exchange and discussions among investors. Baltic and international entrepreneurs will share their success stories and practical advice on capital market experiences. The conference will also provide a networking opportunity for Baltic capital market professionals.
"The Baltic countries have made significant leaps in capital market development in recent years. The capital market can play a more significant role in the economies of Latvia and the other Baltic States - this requires regular dialogue and exchange of ideas between investment professionals, regulators, investors and other capital market participants. Last year's first Baltic Capital Markets Conference was very well received, and it stimulated new ideas and projects, so it is important not to stop at the achieved and set even higher goals. The conference is a valuable platform and a melting pot of different investment cultures, experiences and knowledge with one single goal - to build better capital markets and promote economic development in the Baltics," says Roberts Idelsons, Chairman of the Board of Signet Bank.
Despite the recent years’ significant growth, the potential of the Baltic capital market, as a stepping stone for the development and value creation of local companies both domestically and internationally, is still underestimated. The Baltic Capital Markets Conference is an opportunity to collectively transition towards a desirable direction by bringing more attention and strengthening the capital market development for the economic and financial well-being of the countries.
"A well-developed capital market is the foundation of a country's economic growth. Successful development is based on ambitious companies able to raise growth capital on the stock market and investors willing to turn their savings into productive investments. By raising capital on the stock exchange, companies grow and develop, new well-paid jobs are created and taxes flow into the public coffers. Investors in turn grow the value of their investments and receive dividends - an interconnected process that contributes to the well-being of society and the sustainability of the national economy as a whole," highlights Daiga Auziņa-Melalksne, Chairwoman of the Board of Nasdaq Riga.
Baltic Capital Markets Conference has received the Nasdaq Excellence Award "Nasdaq Baltic Awards 2023" in the nomination "Stock Exchange Event of the Year" in Latvia.
